The Trail was held again in 2025 on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th May.

Morag Gamble & Jerry Coleby-Williams joined us over the weekend, mingling with our Trail-goers, answering questions and dispensing their garden wisdom.

We had a diverse range of open gardens, passionate and knowledgeable hosts, workshops and demos at every turn.

Check out some of the images from the weekend on our  Facebook and Instagram pages.

Experience edible gardens of the gorgeous Samford Valley

Our number one goal is to help you learn, connect, and grow your own food.

We do this through our open edible garden days during the Trail weekend each year and through our regular edible garden tours and updates on our socials.

All money raised through tickets sales go towards other food growing initiatives in the Samford and surrounds community!

Our Story

It all started with four local ladies who got together in 2019 and asked, why isn’t there an open garden scheme for edible gardens in Australia? Could we run one here in Samford Valley, after all it is such a perfect place to grow food?’

These four local girls pulled their crazy plan together over Zoom in the thick of Covid lockdowns, and only came together in person for the first time in May 2020!

They planned to showcase gardens the old fashioned way through an open day, but 2020 lockdowns saw them grab their phones, and in an appropriately socially distanced way, visit each of the gardens themselves.

They learnt as much as they could from each garden host, and then posted the videos up online on our Facebook and YouTube sites. They were blown away by the support they received, and had viewers from all around Australia and even abroad. By the end of 2020, twenty nine gardens had been visited and showcased online, not just in Samford Valley, but across south-east Queensland, and even as far north as Mackay.

In 2021, the organising crew expanded and the Trail opened to the public for the first time with eight, inspiring edible gardens, cafes showcasing locally grown food, market stalls and other activities. The feedback was amazing, so we decided to make the Trail bigger and better, turning a one day event into a whole weekend!
